Surgery & Sedation
Arch Dental Centres Toronto has a periodontist and an oral surgeon available to better accommodate our patients’ needs. One of the most common oral surgery procedures is the removal of wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are typically extracted due to discomfort, decay, or to prevent common problems from arising in the future.
Wisdom Teeth Extractions
At Arch Dental Centres Toronto, wisdom teeth and general extractions can either be performed under a local anesthetic or a general anesthetic. A local anesthetic will be applied to the area prior to the tooth removal. If several or all of your wisdom teeth are being removed at the same time, a general anesthetic may be used instead.
Wisdom Teeth Removal Recovery
The expected recovery period for a wisdom teeth removal falls somewhere between five and seven days, although normal activity can be resumed usually within 12 to 24 hours. We recommend patients adhere to a soft foods diet for at least the first 36 hours and avoid drinking alcohol or smoking. We also do not recommend drinking through a straw since this may play havoc upon your stitches.
Placing implants is a delicate job which requires special skills. Most general dentists have to refer you out to a specialist. However, at Arch Dental Centres, our in-house specialists work together with your dentist to assess your situation, place implant(s) and restore the final implant crown, bridge or denture all in the same office.
Bone Grafts at Arch Dental Centres Toronto
When a tooth is missing, it is often necessary to utilize bone grafting techniques to regenerate some bone in the areas that are deficient. When you lose a tooth, often the surrounding bone collapses. Bone grafting makes it possible to preserve this bone for a dental implant or esthetic purposes. Bone grafting can reverse bone loss or destruction caused by periodontal disease, traumas, ill-fitting dentures, or missing teeth.

We commonly use this technique in our offices to augment bone for implant placement or to enhance the esthetics of a missing tooth in your smile. To learn more about our bone grafting options or to schedule an appointment for a consultation, please contact us!
